I export information from another system to Excel 2003.
I get several columns of data B-R (I use column A as a sorting column). Column B is the base material code; Column C is the Grouping number; Column D is the Generic name; and Column L is the amount consumed of that material.
Column B contains several rows of base material codes (ex: row 7-54 in the attachment). All of these base material codes fall under the same Grouping number, but the Grouping number is only listed in row C7.
A total is provided, but if I want to find the total of grouping number 7-54 I can not use the data filter. I have to manually look for the grouping number and then find the total.
Currently what I have been doing is under each cell that says “Total”, I manually place the formula =CONCATENATE(C54," ",C55). Then I have to fill the same Grouping number in the blanks between cells C7 and C54. This will allow me to see the total of that Grouping number.
There are over 5000 rows of information that I want to try to get the data without having to manually fill in the blank cells in order to get the sums I need.
I have included an example. I need a better way to see the total amount consumed for all of the base materials under one Grouping number. Anyone have a better alternative that I can not grasp at this point in time?
