    Auto Updates to external spreadsheets

I am working on a LARGE spreadsheet that has many links to other excel workbooks. All I get are #Value errors in every cell the refers to another spreadsheet, unless that spreadsheet is Open. I have manually went to each data link and Updated values, but still get the error.

When I send the spreadsheet to partners, they see all the errors, instead of the calculated numbers. Unless I break the links and re-save as another version. This is the 1st time I have experianced this issue. I copied this spreadsheet form an older version (I have been using the same set for a few years now, updating with new years data) 1st time in Excel 2010. Did I do something wrong when converting the file to 2010? I can't figure it out and need to fix this issue.

The full path is there, it just won't show the actual value until I open the file it links to

Re: Auto Updates to external spreadsheets

I also have data links within a large spreadsheet that link to other spreadsheets and workbooks. The origin cells will only be manually entered once, and I don't want them to automatically update. I plan to add more data links that will refer to the same cells and can NOT have the data change. If I remove the full path and only refer to the spreadsheet and workbook, will that stop the links from automatically updating?

I got a message box that asked if I wanted to enable automatic data link updates and I said "yes" in error. Is there a way to easily just disable them? I have not found how to open that dialogue box again anywhere. I even tried closing all my Excel files and re-opening them. Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
