Merging Data from 2 Separate Spreadsheets

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me since I can't seem to find anything useful through Google. I'm a lowly intern at a big company and I'd like to impress my boss by bypassing a whole bunch of manual data entry and completing this project well before the deadline.

I'm using Office 2007 and I have a whole wack of data that I need to reconcile. I was given a huge spreadsheet and asked to look up the IATA airport code (if one exists otherwise leave blank), time zone, postal code, latitude, longitude, and population for almost every village, town, and city in most major countries around the world. Myself and 3 other interns have split up the work but I know the information is already out there, all I have to do is consolidate it.

So I found a list of every town or city in the world that has an IATA code, as well as the latitude and longitude, and I've imported it to excel. What I'm trying to do is match up the data with each city on a master sheet but I can't seem to figure it out. My list is much larger than the list of towns with airports I found so ideally the cells beside the towns that I do have information for would populate and the rest would be left untouched.

Is this possible and how do I go about doing it? I do have some excel experience so i'm not completely illiterate but this is beyond me. I hope you can help!
