I have workbook having only 4 sheet , simple macro and approx 12000 row data but file size is showing 3501 kb and its taking too much time to open or save.

Given the volume of data the file size looks about right.
Do you have a lot of formula in your sheets?

I have found that eliminating formatting in unused cells can reduce file size. If you select all unused cells, then Edit -> Clear -> All that will remove the unneeded formatting information and will reduce file size. Alternately, if you format the entire column (select the column at the top, then apply formatting), Excel seems to store the formatting information once for the column as opposed to in every cell.
