Dynamic Range for Chart where source data is a pivot table

I have seen examples of how to do expanding and contracting dynamic ranges for charts based on a data table. What I would like to know is if you can establish a dynamic range when you are doing your chart from a pivot table. I want to do this so there is not a blank space in the bar chart when I filter (because some selections result in more categories of data than others. I can post an example, but just wanted to get a sence of whether this is possible. Thank you for some input on this.

Thank you - here is a file. If you filter on "ID" you will notice that depending on which ID you choose, there are some blanks in the chart. Thanks for any help!

    Hi eugbed,

Are you talking about filtering on "ID" or filtering on "Column Labels".. because when I filtered on "ID" I do not find any series blank.. at least one entry is there for any year from 2007 to 2011 ?

no, I am talking about the "category" on the X-axis - (Fup, etc.). This is just an example of a very large data base with lots of variability btwn the different ID's (eg. pt002, etc.). So, if pt002 has all 6 of the "category" items, and V0014 only has, say, 2, then the graph looks empty for some and "full" for others. I would like the graph to collapse down to whatever number of "categories" are represented. Hope that makes sense - some of these things are hard to describe!! I am travelling a bit, so variable internet access, therefore the gaps btwn my responses - thanks for sticking with me on this!
