Question Applying Named Ranges to Existing Formulae

    Hello All,

I'm new to the Forum and hoping you can help with what should, on the face of it, be a simple issue but which has me stumped: I am applying names to certain cells (absolute references) in a workbook already populated with numerous formulae. The idea is to allow users to be able to see the inputs at a glance rather than have to trace the precedents to various work-sheets.

However, using the 'Apply Names' function from the Defined Names section in the Formula ribbon applies the names to only the cells in the worksheet from which they were created. How might one apply these names to all formulae in all work-sheets?

My searches on Google and in the various sub-forums here have been for naught thus far. Some direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards,
    Usman

    Hi Usman,

    Welcome to the forum.

How might one apply these names to all formulae in all work-sheets?
Do you want to use names in entire workbook ... irrespective of which sheet they created?

Thanks Dilip. Yes, I would like the names to be applied to all formulae in the workbook, irrespective of which sheet they were created in.

    Usman

I would like the names to be applied to all formulae
    1) If you want to use defined names in all the worksheets, choose scope as "Workbook" while defining those names
    2) If you want to apply the name (which is already created) in all the formula in workbook, you need to include those names manually in the formulas. Alternatively, you can use Ctrl H (Find & Replace) option smartly to do this.
