    Excel Project, Horse Racing Anaysis

    Hello to all.

    Hope everyone is well!

Attached is a spread sheet I'm developing to help handicap horse races. I'm stuck trying to populate cells in Sheet!SRET from the downloaded sheets (h_dump, hr_dump and r_dump).

Sheet!h_dump has a macro that seperates the horses from sheet!h_dump into their own dedicated sheet (1-10), based on the race number the horses are entered in. Each of those sheets only lists the horses in one race, so the sheet labeled "1" contains the horses in the first rase. sheet "2" the horses from the second race, and so on.

I'll only handicap one race at a time, using sheet!SRET to make the calculations. There for, I need to move the information from the other sheets, into sheet!SRET. For example, if I wanted to look at the first race information, how could I populate sheet!SRET A3 with the first horses name from sheet1? Sheet!SRET A9, would contain the second horses name. The third horses name would appear in sheet!SRET A15, and so on.

I considered putting a drop down menu somewhere on sheet!SRET with numbers 1-10, and using a Index, Match formula. Is this an efficient method? I'm a bit over my head, so any/all suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    M.A.Tyler

    M.A.Tyler,

Check out the attached file and let me know what you think. I created a drop-down list with race numbers that will change the horses names in the cells you specified.

    Holyasian,

    Thats perfect!

Would you like to help me with this project?

There are some other issues. For instance, the macro on Sheet!h_dump needs to clear itself when I'm done with it, so I can start over.

    Mike.

    Mike,

I'm glad I could help. I appreciate your offer, but I will have to decline. I'm no expert at VBA coding or excel in general. If there are some big specific issues that really stump you though, feel free to reach out.

    -Wes.

PS) I added some code to the macro to clear the cells. An error comes up about the worksheets named "Error_" that I don't understand, but the macro still works. If you could fix that, it will be golden.
