Compiling data from selected fields in multiple files, into one master file

    Hi there!

I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping that someone can help me out with this little problem I have at hand.

I am looking to put together a master XLS/CSV file, which complies data from multiple excel files. I use a template to generate these files, which are Invoices with customer details. There are details of name, address, email, telephone, item description, etc. which are located in fixed cells in these Invoice files.

I'm essentially looking to gather this selected info from these files to create a database that I can integrate into CRM applications.

I hope someone can help me out with this.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind Regards

    Lee

Sure, why dont you attach a sample file of your data?

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced.
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

    Hello there!

Thanks for your prompt response. Please find attached a sample of the invoice template we use. Now there are 300 odd files named Sofa Invoice_123512, Sofa Invoice_123513, Sofa Invoice_123514 and so on. I basically need to extract info from these templates, as described earlier about customer and purchase details, and compile it into a master document which has columns organised as Invoice Number, Customer Name, Address, Postcode, Order, Payment method, Notes etc. for each customer.

Hope this makes sense. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Any help will be much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Lee

Your attached file has 4 sheets. Can you specify from which sheets the data needs to be picked up and which ranges (cells) in these sheets?

    Hi again,

All the data I need to gather is present in Sheet1. They are from multiple cells that are highlighted from yellow, that I need to put into various columns in the master sheet.

Hope this makes sense. Please do contact me if you need any further info.

    Thanks once again!

    Cheers,
    Lee

    Ryan,

    Welcome to the Forum, unfortunately:

Your post does not comply with Rule 2 of our Forum RULES. Don't post a question in the thread of another member -- start your own thread. If you feel it's particularly relevant, provide a link to the other thread. It makes sense to have a new thread for your question because a thread with numerous replies can be off putting & difficult to pick out relevant replies.

    Lee,

Please upload a sample of your master file (how you would want it to look) so we can work on it.

Is your data in sheet1 taken from the other sheets in the workbook? In that case, i would say it might be easy to extract the info into the master file from the individual sheets rather than all the data in sheet1.

Re: Compiling data from selected fields in multiple files, into one master file

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to me. Well, look at it this way. Ignore all other sheets in the Workbook, apart from Sheet1. All the data used in the workbook is entered into that yellow-highlighted section in sheet1. Thats all the info I need to take from each file.

Please find the template for the master file. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further information or clarifications.

    Thanks

    Lee
