Hi all,
I hope you can help me to solve this problem, my Excel from time to time starts acting funny, and I do not know how to fix the problem other than restarting the whole computer.
Normal behavior: When I use Ctrl+C on a cell or array, I will get a "running border" around the chosen and copied cell(s).
I can then move to another cell in the worksheet, and press Enter or Ctrl+V, and the formulas of the chosen cell will be copied.
If I copy the formula =A1+A2 from A3, copy and go to cell F7 and there press Enter, the formula will read: =F5+F6.
But sometimes, maybe after five minutes or two hours, my Excel will click into sometimes I call "text mode":
When I use Ctrl+C, I will have no running border.
And when I go to another cell and press Enter, nothing will happen other then moving one cell down.
If I instead use Ctrl+V, only the value will be copied, not the formula.
If I try to open the cell (F2) and copy the formula, it will be the exact text - not adapting to its new place as usual.
I presume some of my keystrokes are setting Excel in this text mode, but I have not been able to find out which. And I want to prevent this, or at least be able to set it back to normal without having to restart the whole computer - it will not work to simply restart Excel.
With kind regards,
Magne Flåten.text mode
