How to get Excel out of Text mode

    Hi all,
I hope you can help me to solve this problem, my Excel from time to time starts acting funny, and I do not know how to fix the problem other than restarting the whole computer.

Normal behavior: When I use Ctrl+C on a cell or array, I will get a "running border" around the chosen and copied cell(s).
I can then move to another cell in the worksheet, and press Enter or Ctrl+V, and the formulas of the chosen cell will be copied.
If I copy the formula =A1+A2 from A3, copy and go to cell F7 and there press Enter, the formula will read: =F5+F6.

But sometimes, maybe after five minutes or two hours, my Excel will click into sometimes I call "text mode":
When I use Ctrl+C, I will have no running border.
And when I go to another cell and press Enter, nothing will happen other then moving one cell down.
If I instead use Ctrl+V, only the value will be copied, not the formula.
If I try to open the cell (F2) and copy the formula, it will be the exact text - not adapting to its new place as usual.

I presume some of my keystrokes are setting Excel in this text mode, but I have not been able to find out which. And I want to prevent this, or at least be able to set it back to normal without having to restart the whole computer - it will not work to simply restart Excel.

    With kind regards,
    Magne Flåten.text mode

Have you installed Skype Click to Call? That can screw up Copy and Paste.

Skype is installed but not running, it will not start when Windows start. I use Skype once a month, and Quit it afterwards. Even when I use it, I only use p2p - no calls to or accepting calls from telephones.
Even when it is on, I accept calls only from my contact list.
I could uninstall it just to check, but I belive it is unactive.
But you had a good question.

Wonderful! I found it, and removed it.
Hopefully this will make my problems go away.
So you have heard of this problem before?
This is my bedtime now, but I will surely test this tomorrow and report back.
    Thank you both so far!

So you have heard of this problem before?
Yes, and experienced it personally. I posted to quite a few forums on LinkedIn to raise awareness.
