How to multiply a value in a column by another column with a string and digit

I'm trying to multiply a number in column B by the dollar amount in column A. The dollar amount is attached to an item and can't stand alone in it's own cell. For instance, the item is 9"x12" ($15.00). How do I get the quantity to multiply by the dollar amount only so I can get a total cost of items that are ordered? In the final file, the items in Column A will be from a drop down menu, so the formula will need to be able to adjust to different dollar amounts.

    Please see attached excel file.

    Thanks!!

    Try:

    =SUBSTITUTE(MID(A2,FIND("(",A2)+1,255),")","")*B2
