Combining chart types in one plot area

What I'd like to do is combine a stacked bar chart with 3 components (A, B & C, each being a category of expenditure, giving a bar with 3 different coloured sections for each stack) with another bar in the same plot area showing forecasted total expenditure, on a month-by-month basis. I can do this easily on graphics packages, but I'd prefer to be able to do this from within Excel. I'm using Excel 2007 (though the example data is from 2003).

Can I combine these on the same x-axis on the one chart???

Brilliant job, Andy Pope!!! I realised (too late) that I'd posted this in the wrong place and wasn't sure if I'd get a reply. I've more-or-less got exactly what I want, after only a couple of minutes twiddling. There was a similar post (again which I found after I'd posted my request) that hasn't had a reply yet. I'll try to find it again & cross reference to your v. helpful reply.
