Removing everything but year from a date

    Hello,
how do i remove everything but the year from a list of dates. I don't want to hide it i want to physically get rid of it. As the hiding or custom formating still means i get hundreds of values for the same year in my pivot table.

    Regards,
    Joshua

You can group dates by years in Pivot Tables without changing the original dates

When your PT has been created and the dates are row fields, say, right click them - click "group" and select "years".
You can also choose to hide details

    1. use formula =Year(a2) in B2
    2. copy down formula
    3. select column B
    4. copy
    5. paste special (choose values)
