Help needed to organize jumbled data into multiple columns

    Hi there,

I'm using a program which exports a series of 8 tags in a random order in one column (new row for each entry) as seen below:

    tag1,tag5,tag2,tag7,tag4,tag3,tag8,tag6
    tag4,tag3,tag7,tag1,tag8,tag6,tag2,tag5
    tag8,tag6,tag1,tag3,tag7,tag4,tag5,tag2

Each tag has a predefined value ranging from 3 -48 options per tag.

    For example:
tag 1 could be one of: canada, usa, mexico, etc..
tag 2 could be one of: small, medium, large, extra large, etc..

Is there anyway to arrange the information so that all tags are organized properly? (All of the tag1's are in one column, tag2's in another, etc..).

I would appreciate any help with this, as I've been struggling to find a solution elsewhere. Let me know if you would like me to provide any additional information.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

For starts..you'd want each tag to show up in separate columns...

    Use Data--Text to columns--delimited by--comma.

Uploading a sample thereafter would be insightful

Hi Ace, thanks for the quick response. See the attachment for an example.

There is a "simple" scenario, with easily recognizable tags, and then I included the actual data that I'm working with.

Let me know if there is any further information you'd like me to provide.

    Thanks,

    Mark
