Auto Populate Calendar from Table Excel

I posted this question in my introduction, but I think I was supposed to post this in the general section:

Hi, I currently work as an event coordinator for the Hispanic chamber of commerce. My company is working on tracking all marketing instances and I would like to find out how to create a very simple auto populating excel calendar.

Specifics of what I need:

I need to auto populate a calendar with a list of marketing instances. I have a table that lists the date and market instance of an event. for example the table will have the date 7/2/2012 and next to it breakfast networking 7/26, facebook post. all those entries need to be auto populated in a calendar. Sometimes there are several instances in one day. it would be nice to list them, i would need this calendar on a legal size or tabloid size paper.

Attached is a document that I have been working on from this forum, but it does not provide several lines to work on, it isn't big enough for the amount of instances that I might have. Also if I have several instances I would like to input in the table separately instead of in one cell, but have it show up on the same day together.

Thank you for any help given, it is really nice to connect with experienced people in excel!

This allows you to enter events/activities in any order and then puts them in the correct day on the Calendar sheet, with up to 7 events per day. You can select the month and year of interest using the drop-downs.

I can't get the month and date to update on the calendar ...

I've selected the month of September and chosen 2012. I imagine it's supposed to then update the actual calendar to the left with the new dates?

If the dates do not show September, then perhaps you have your Excel set to manual calculation - click on the Formulas tab then on Calculation Options and set it to Automatic.

Oh my gosh it's like magic!

Thank you - now I will tinker around with this like a grown up.

How would you do this with 2 criteria, date and time.

Again as mentioned above, you shouldn't try to hijack someone else's thread - start your own thread instead.

In answer to your question, though, the year is chosen via a Data Validation drop-down, so if you select the cell with the year in it and then click on Data | Data Validation (twice), then you will see how the original years have been set up - just delete the ones that you don't need and add new ones at the end in the same format (separated by a comma).

Where would I be able to find the modern version?

As with other contributors, by asking a question in someone else's thread you are deemed to be trying to hijack that thread, and this is against the Forum Rules (which you can read from the menu option at the top of the screen).

Start your own (new) thread, and explain what you mean by "modern". There have been many variations of this calendar file over the years, so you can search the Forum for others (usually customised to suit other posters' requirements).

Dear Pete, thank you so much for this. I have a question though, what if we have an event that lasts more than one day? how can we enter a start date and end date?

There are other versions of this calendar which allow for start and end dates for each event, and expands these automatically to have an entry for each date in the range - you just have to search for them.

However, there are common responses above which tell posters not to post questions in other posters' threads - start your own new thread instead.
