    Vlookup with IF statement?

Attached is a simplified version of my data. Difficult to explain. The result I need is: John Doe Attended 1/1/06 The reason that is correct is b/c "Attened" over-rides "not-attended" / "Cancelled" and The newest date wins.

So what Im looking for is a formula I can use which will show me if John Doe attended one of these classes. And if he did when was the most recent class. If he cancelled, when did he cancel, or has he just not attended yet.

Thanks for any help. Sorry its kinda wordy and confusing.

    Thanks Haseeb.
This is a step in the right direction. A pivot table would work except I will need all off the attendance status to be in one column. I personally like your method better, but this report is for someone well above my pay grade and he wants the status in one column. And I dont know how to do that with more than two values in a pivot table. Thanks again for any input.

    I am sorry tyetd,

What do you mean by "all off the attendance status to be in one column". Could you please attach a file with your desired layout?
