How to calculate monthly average

Top table is how I think the monthly average should be calculated. Bottom table is how it is currently been calculated at my work place. As you can see the overall grade is not the same at the end of the month, eventhough I am using the same exact numbers. Can anyone help me find the correct way?

overall grade is not the same

From where you are comparing .. I see both the overall all grades (which are in Y11 and Y17) are using different numbers and hence the average will be different. thanks.

But do you see on the top table I'm calculating the weekly average first and then at the end of the month I get the weekly average and with that generate the monthly average? And on the bottom table 2nd week's average is added to the first week's average, third week's average isadded to the 2nd and 1st week's average and so on? And at the end of the month that's causingthe overall grade to be different?

Not sure.... are you calculating average of average?

As you can see the overall grade is not the same at the end of the month, eventhough I am using the same exact number

Best check would be to list down the numbers which are getting averaged in both the scenarios and then compare if both the list is same

Yeah! does what I thought in the second table first week's average is already calculated and then second weeks' average is averaged again to the first weeks' average and I dont think this is the correct way to do it. Right?
