Conditional formatting for different text in multiple columns

    Hello all,

I am trying to create a staff leave planner and ultimately what I am trying to do is to color code when an employee from a specific shift requests a leave (VAC, SICK, ETC) for that day. For example, if 3 people from the day shift request to have the 1st off I want it to highlight the day shift in yellow, and if they work the mid shift, I want it to be highlighted in another color and the same for the night shift. I am completely lost because I am not even sure if this is possible. Please help!!!

Thanks for the information, however I am looking to see if someone can assist with the spreadsheet that I have started. I tried downloading the template and it was unsuccessful. I really am not sure if I am doing the right thing so any help is greatly appreciated!
