Multiple columns to individuals columns by sorted column

    Hi all,

I would like copy the columns (data shown below [columns A:C]) to individual columns that are sorted by column A. For example, I would like deer 3 to have its associated water and road values listed next to it in separate columns (i.e., columns D:G), then deer 5 would be in columns H:J and so on down the list. Any help with a formula to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated, I've pulled my hair out enough and a pivot table doesn't seem to work.

    Thanks!

Re: Multiple columns to individuals columns by sorted column

This can be done using a helper column.
Your Data would best be sorted by Col A, then by Col B, then by Col C.
However this will work provided Column A is arranged in groups, but not necessarily sorted.

In D2 (Helper column, hide with the Grouping Button)
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

Drag Down until blanks are returned

    In E2
    For pre 2007
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

Drag Across until the last column returns a blank, then down until a blank row is returned.
    For
    2007 and above try
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

This could probably be simplified, but first, does it do as you need?

Re: Multiple columns to individuals columns by sorted column [solved]

    Marcol,

Thank you for your useful and quick reply, it is much appreciated. The codes you sent took a bit of manipulating, but I got them to work for me.

    Take care.
