    Conditional Formatting

    Conditional Formatting In Excel 07: I want to make dates in the past have a light grey background. I have tried to use a comparison such as < Today(), but it just puts "" around it and it always = True. I have also tried putting Today() in a cell (say A44) and then testing to see if the date in the subject cell is less than the date in A44. The cell A44 is correctly showing today's date, but still the conditional formatting always = True whether the date in the subject cell is in the future or in the past.
    Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    The conditional format formula should be

    =A2<TODAY()

    Note that I have used A2 as an example, it should refer to the top left cell in the range that the conditional format is being applied to.
