How are "Recent Workbooks" decided? Shouldn't they just be most recent?

Angry How are "Recent Workbooks" decided? Shouldn't they just be most recent?

This is nothing new but I'm finally getting sick of this.

I just closed a workbook. Oops, I'd like to reopen it please.

But it is not in Recent Workbooks under File/Recent.

    Isn't that the point?

How does a workbook "qualify" to be a "Recent Workbook"?

    Thanks

Can't say I've ever had this happen but can see it would be v frustrating.
Sorry to ask the obvious but I assume you are saving the workbooks before closing them ??

    thanks Tony
    that's actually an interesting question
sometimes when a bunch of workbooks are open Excel (2010) seems to run out of memory or something: when I close one that has been changed, whether clicking X or File/Close it doesn't prompt to Save Changes (as if was only open in RAM)
That is repeatable once in that state.

Anyway to be sure of your question, I just tested by 1 Saving 2 Closing 3 Checking Recent Workbooks and same problem.

I should probably add that I have a plugin called Office Tabs running (can't live without it, can't believe this isn't built in)

Of great interest to me: does it work for you? If so, is it instantly in Recent WB?
