    Post Tabed Excel Documents?

Does anyone know if it is possible to have several instances of excel open in one window with tabs on the top to switch between opened workbooks?

I'm thinking something similar to what firefox and chrome do when you have multiple internet browsers open, all accessible and visible at once through the tabs at the top.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

That would require Microsoft to redesign the Excel App.

You can open separate instance of the Excel App but that's not quite what you're asking.

Why is the normal WIndows windows functionality not sufficient? What is it you want that this doesn't give you other than there's not a tab for each workbook in one place?

    Re: Tabed Excel Documents?

    Thank you for your response.

Essentially I have users that are not very excel or computer literate (I do not do the hiring or the job placement). I'm trying to setup a way for them to interact with excel in a way that is most simplistic and functional for them.

Each day the user will need to access different sets of workbooks. I wanted to setup a batch command that will open all workbooks for them at once in a single instance of excel and allow them to see that they have multiple workbooks open so they can select which ever one they need to use. Currently they are doing this through worksheet tabs.

The challange with the tabs is that I am also trying to simplify the saving procedure for them as well through use of a button that will save and close automatically for them when pressed. The issue being that each work sheet needs to be saved at different times during the day, so saving and reopening all worksheets each time one needs to be saved is not desirable.

    For example:

Today, the user may need to use worksheets:

    Worksheet1 - Saved every hour
    Worksheet2 - Saved 3 times a day
    Worksheet3 - Saved once a day

I wanted to break these out to different workbooks that would all be opened with a single batch command and setup a button that would close individual workbooks and then clear the data so that it could be used again without having to re-open new instances of each worksheet / workbook and at the same time have the option for them to see the tabs so that they can switch from worksheet to worksheet easily.
