Is it possible to set a conditional format to meet two criteria?

When Column A is Blank and Column B = "employee" I would like column C to be highlighted in red, but I cant get this to work.

    I have entered this:

=and($a1:$a100="",$b1:$b100="employee") and then selected cells $C1:$c100 in format red. No luck

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Try this.

    =and($a1="",$b1="employee")
