Cool Change Chart Title Depending on a Slicer - slicer advice

    Hi,

I've just started using slicers to build a dashboard for my boss and have two questions i'm hoping someone could help me with.

    1) Is there a way to get a chart title to change depending on what filter is selected in a slicer?

    2) Is there a way to setup a slicer as a "Master" slicer that resets other filters when it is changed?

The 2nd might need a bit more explanation.

I have a slicer that allows the user to select a region let's say North and/or South. Each region has a subset of stores, unique to that region (N1, N2,N3, S1,S2,S3)

If i slice/filter on North and select store N1 - my chart shows info for N1. Great.

But if i then select "South" - my chart goes blank, because the filter on store is still on. Its easy enough to clear the filter from store, but i am really trying to cater for the lowest common denominator here so want it to clear the filters from "store" when a region is selected. Any ideas, would i need a bit of code running on the sheet? If so could someone point me in the direction of the commands i require? My VBA skills pretty much go as far as Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V!

    Thanks in advance!

    J

I'm not aware of a built in way to reset a secondary slicer.

There is code to clear a slicer but I can not find any event to capture change in master slicer. There is an event for pivot table change but you can not tell what caused the change.

You mean to say....that there is something Excel can't do? I thought it was all powerful! I can't do things in Excel, but there's always someone out there who knows how to do what i'm looking for....always...sunrise...sunset...

Thanks for looking though mate , what's the code to clear the slicers? I might just put a button on the spreadshet with "RESET" in big letters. Hopefully, that'll be clear enough for them!

    Actually you could try this.

Right click sheet table, where the pivot table is, and paste code.
    Change slicer name.
