How do I get a spreadsheet to look like this? In particular, I mean the grey zone around the worksheet. Thanks. Budd.

Hi budd and welcome to the forum,
On the View Tab uncheck Gridlines and then select the entire sheet and format cells to your desired fill color. Then select the range of cells you want and fill them back to white or any other color. Easy Peasy. See attached.
