Excel does not recognize the info as dates

Hi.

I have a problem with a large excel document Im working with. When I copy paste info from a csv file (which is imported/downloaded from smth called x-cart) , excel does not recognize it as a date. Usally dates are shown as a code until you format it as a date but for me it only sees it as a normal text in a cell. I have tried changing format but it doesnt help, and changing the date in the control panel wouldnt help either. Dates are shown as: 21.08.2012 09:30
The reason to why I want it to recognize it as a date is because the date info is used as a filter in a pivot table in another sheet.

Then
Find: .
Replace with: /

Replace All
