    Special Format

HI, I have a formula that is a fraction and I want to keep in a fraction format. Example c2=a1/b2 I want excel display this as a fraction. I have tried even creating my own custom format, but excel keeps changing the fraction. How can I display this fraction without excel change the ratio numbers. Example 73/27 comes out in excel 175/64. Thanks for your help.

can you share a sample data set, including the formula that spits out the fractions?

CSE, aka Array aka { }, formulae are confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER.
Replace commas ( , ) with semicolons ( ; ) in formulae, if your locale setting demands.
All good ideas are courtesy resources from this forum as well as others around the web.

Is this a formula or a format? If this is a formula, will it be treated as text or as number?

    Thanks for your help

    Re: Special Formatt

your problem is that 230/100 is 2.3
    while 70/30 is 2.33333
By changing the format to your preferred you're actually changing the answer.

    Re: Special Formatt

@thmehr, are you going to have to use the resulting fraction in a calculation somewhere else? if the answer is an emphatic NO, then you can use @jiejinn's formula thus in cell E4:
