    Date format not recognized

    Hi,

I have imported lots of data, one colum includes date formated as YYYYMMDD such as 20081205 or 20120101

I would like to graph this column with another corresponding column but can't because the date format is not recognized. How can I solve this problem?

    Thanks

    Re: Date format not recognized

    Hi,

You've told us what the formatting shows you but what's the actual value in the cell. If it's exactly as the format then you need a helper column to convert what is a string of text to a proper date number

    =DATE(LEFT(A1,4),MID(A1,5,2),RIGHT(A1,2))

    Regards
