Changing pie chart data labels to include % symbol

    Hi all,

I've attached the excel file that I'm working out of for reference. The data I'm working with are already in percentages. For instance, you'll see that Electronic Technology has a value of 33.37. 33.37 is already a percent value.

So, when I make a pie chart, I would like the data label for the Electronic Technology slice to be "33.4%" or "33%"

However, when I make a pie chart, I can't get the % symbol to show up in the data label without changing the values.

How can I get the pie chart to give me rounded values that have the % symbol in the data labels, without changing the values?

Unfortunately, the source for this data provides it in this format.

    Thank you very much!

Your data does not add to 100%, so you can not use the Percentage option on the data labels.

You will need to create text for data labels using formula, =TEXT(B2/100,"0%")

Then link data labels to cells using free addin

Or you could change the number format

    0"%"

Be aware though that the percentages displayed are incorrect for that chart. Your pie is missing a 10% slice in order to get the percentages to total 100.

Thank you for your quick reply, Andy Pope. Yes, I am aware that about 10% is missing. I'm working with the data provider to figure out why that is.

I would guess the other 10% is taken up by sectors not in the top 10.
Data is described as being Top 10 Sectors

Yep, that's correct Andy. I checked through the data again and found that the missing 10% was just the sectors outside the top ten. Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it.
