Advanced Filter results don't match auto filter

Hi all,

I have a spreadsheet written by someone else, and I'm trying to do advanced filter (in a macro, but it doesn't work when done manually either) and the results don't match what the auto filter does. For example, auto filter using "contains FireSuppr" gives me three rows. Advanced filter returns 0 rows. This is true for some other filter words as well ("Site" gives me 29 rows with auto filter, and 26 rows with advanced filter).

I've tried retyping the words in the cells, both in the selection range and the criteria range and I'm running out of ideas.

Well crap. I've managed to make it work by changing all my selection criteria to eg *FireSuppr*. I have no idea why the spaces in some cell affected the selection, and in other cells they didn't, but, not knowing the history of this spreadsheet, I'll stop fussing about it and just go with the hack fix.

Based on your last post it seems that you found a solution to your problem but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED.
