Smile Help with Personal Finance Template

    Hey guys!

I need some help with a finance tool I'm trying to create(which I have attached). It's only for my Credit Card basically. I have created it so that you have to export a file from your bank with the transaction details and simply paste it into the spreadsheet. Here are my problems however:

    1) I have a category column but you have to manually select the category from a drop down list. Is there anyway to automatically insert the category based on a keyword or keywords in the description next to it? It would save me a lot of time manually clicking those categories for each transaction per month.

    2) Is there anyway to then add up all the adjacent transaction value for each category without having to sum for each category manually?

    3) I want to finally create a bar chart comparing the current and previous month and the total figure for the current month in one bar chart. Is there a better way to do this? Do you guys recommend different comparisons? Or a way to make one master chart for the year showing what I'm spending on?

I have looked up so much stuff like vlookups and nested if statements but I cannot seem to find a way to automate this stuff!! :(

Any help is much appreciated, and If we can't work it our I guess I'll just have to deal with it haha.

    Many Thanks,

    Ian
