Help Linking various values to various names

Hi,

I have a work spreadsheet to work out my gross profit which is dictated by invoice numbers. I have 3 sales staff and at the end of the week I also want the spreadsheet to tally up each sales persons sales figures individually

below is a small part of my spreadsheet as an example. There is never a pattern between the amounts and the sales person.

At the bottom of the spreadsheet I have the sales persons initials with the total figures they have sold that week and I want these figures filled out automatically. Can anyone suggest ways of doing this.

INVOICE SALES person Total

P10886 ON £258
P10887 HS £2,265
P10888 ON £768
P10889 HS £269
P10890 JP £3,149
P10891 JP £1,267
P10892 HS £999

Try..

=SUMIF(Salesperson_Column,"ON",Total_Column) and change for each salesperson

Alternatively, use pivot tables

Thank you for your quick reply. When I put in that formula the cell comes up with this #NAME?

can you advise any further?

=SUMIF(B:B,"ON",C:C)
assuming Column B has your salespersons listed and column C has the totals
