    Filtering table by groups

    Hi All,

This is no doubt probably a very easy task.

So far I have created a table and entered in all the appropriate information etc. I'm able to filter by using the filter function etc.
The thing is I have more than one row (e.g. 4 rows) of information that goes with the subject I'm trying to filter. By using the filter, I can only show the one row the subject I'm filtering is in. Is it possible to use the filter to show multiple rows attached to the subject.

I've tried grouping all the rows that should go together etc but this doesn't seem to work.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Without seeing your data, my first question, is there a theme to where the data could be by column?

Could you add a helper column to the last column and then use that column for the filter?

    Re: Filtering table by groups

    Example for Forum.xlsx

I have mocked up what I'm trying to achieve.

A little info, I work for a music label. I'm trying to set this up so that I can

e.g. filter by composer name to display all songs they have worked on. However, I also need it to display the other composers that have worked on the song.

e.g. I filter by composer name and select Jon Do. I would like it to display all the songs that Jon has worked on and also the other composers that worked on the songs with him.
In his case it should display,

    Sunny DAY
    60% Jon Do
    40% Mary Smith

    COLD NIGHT
    30% Jon Do
    30% Peter Smith
    15% Mary Smith
    15% Patrick Cook
    10% Mary Jane

    FLUFFY CLOUD
    50% Jon Do
    25% Mary Smith
    25% Mary Jane

along with all the other information in the rows (I've just left it out of the above example to save on space)

    Re: Filtering table by groups

No, I want to be able to choose '1' composer, and then create a list of not only each song the composer has a share of, but also the other writers associated with each song.

For example, If I choose Jon Do in the drop down, I want to see all song titles, and co-writers associated with each song Jon Do has a piece of.

    Hope this makes more sense..

Thanks in advance for any help..
