Problem is using formulae across workbooks

I have recently installed office 2010 in my laptop and I find that when I use my worksheet and try to key in formulae which would refer data from other work books the worksheet does not accept it. It accepts references in formulae within the same workbook but not from sheets outside a particular workbook. I have not faced this problem in Excel 2003 or 2007. Is there any setting parameter that needs to be set in Excel 2010 which would enable this or am I missing something?

Hi Sunethra, there is no any setting parameter in excell 2010. Is the problems happen when you get a file from other source(system or through mail) or its happening internally , if you upload a excell sheet , I could look on this.......
