keeping data in cell after changing cell it originated from?

Quick question

If I gather data to Cell B2 from B1, is there a way to keep the data in B2 constant after I change the value of B1?

Ex.
b1= 4
b2=b1 (4 is output)

But later on I'd like to change b1 to a different variable and keep b2 as 4.

Any ideas?

quick answer

without using VBA, and assuming that B2 gets its value from a formula (=B1), and thats all you have

...then no
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Too keep B2 as constant after you have calculated from your formula....copy B2 and then right click paste special "value".

This way you replace B2 with your current answer and not linked as a formula.

Now anything you do to B1 ....B2 will remain as 4.....following your example.

Hope this helps
