Question how to enter a hyperlink in unprotected cell on protected sheet

Hi, new here so please excuse my ignorance....

I am compiling a 'master document list' with the name hyper-linking to the document. Naturally i wish to protect the worksheet, and with information form this forum i have been able to allow the hyperlink to work, and stop the cell from being edited, with the sheet protected.

I have also written a macro that allows data entry, and maintain sheet protection (albeit with no password).

What i can't seem to do is, in an unprotected cell, edit a hyperlink.

I hope i have made myself clear...

thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Try putting
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    in that cell.
You can then edit the link in the formula bar.
    Cheers!

Perhaps I don't fully understand the question, but you should be able to right click on the wording itself, then click on "Edit Hyperlink" at the bottom of the menu. You may want to unprotect the entire sheet, just in case that is causing the issue.

Could you maybe post a sample of the issue you are having so we could take a look at it?

    Thanks Guys.

Jake, you are right but i'd rather keep the protection on so that when Joe Bloggs is using the file, he cannot inadvertently delete/edit/alter any of the other data. the idea being anyone can enter additional information by way of using lists but the only manual editing required would be to enter the file name and hyperlink to its location on the network. even with a cell unlocked, you cannot add/edit a hyperlink.

    Anyone with other ideas???
