Reducing columns in scroll

Hello,
I have a worksheet that the scroll bar is going all the way out to XFD, I have tried deleting these columns however it is not reducing the used area. This makes using the scroll bar nearly impossible and makes the run time for my macros excruciatingly long. Can anyone help?
Is it possible that any of my macros are causing this huge amount of columns?

If the issue you are having is related to macros, there is no way to diagnose it without seeing your macros. Can you post the file, or at least the code? After you delete columns, did you close then re-open the file? (This may be necessary only in some versions of Excel, I can't remember if it's necessary in 2007.)
