Retrieve player names from another sheet having a database of duplicate team names.

Hey there,

Let me explain. This seems so simple, yet so consfusing (for me).

On sheet 1, in cell A1 I have 'Team 1'. Cell A1 is a dropdown list consisting of 10 teams.

In cell A3, I have 'Player names'. Under the cell A3 I want to list all the players of Team 1.

On another sheet, Column A has all teams in team numbers. Column B has Player names for the corresponding team number in column A.

For example: Col A = Team #s and Col B = Player Names.

Team #s --------------Player names

Team 1 ----------------Derek

Team 1-----------------James

Team 1-----------------Dean

Team 2------------------John

Team 2------------------Nolan

Team 3------------------X

Team 4-----------------Y

Team 4------------------Z

Team 4-------------------ZQ

So if I select Team 1 in the first sheet, I want it to list under 'Player names' - Derek, James, Dean.

Index is not working because it always gets stuck at Derek, it doesn't work below that.

Thanks for any help,

Any questions, just ask!

Hey thanks,

I just read through it. But it creates a drop-down list for the player names. I just want it all displayed, without a dropdown list for the players.

Any solution.

Try Pivot Table.

I have already done pivot tables, but I am looking for another solution. I feel pivot table is not the best fix for me. Or is it impossible?

If you don't have any issues in sharing your data then please attach it Or attach a sample workbook and the way you applied the Pivot. Because in my experience many persons fail in building pivot.

I was asking for a solution without using pivot tables.

I solved it! I used this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=132ZdpxBm1U

I hope I am allowed to link youtube videos. If I am not, I apologize and hope mods can delete the link.

Thanks everyone for your inputs, appreciate it.

Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
Thanks.

1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
