COnverting an incorrect date format to an actual date

Hi,

I have a database that contains several hundred dates of Birth that I want to use to calculate a current age.

When I import the dates they come in in the format dd.mm.yyyy. But excel wil not recognise them as dates. (I have tried altering the format of the cells, but they will only be recognised as a "date" if I re-type them in).

Is there any way I can get these "text" numbers to be recognised as a date..even it it means adding in a formuale to pull out the relevant bits, then "stck" them back together?

Try doing a Find & Replace (CTRL-H) on the offending cells - find the "." and replace it with "/".
