INDEX+MATCH with multiple criteria across both rows and columns

    Hi everyone,

I have a spreadsheet where I'd to match four criteria (on a single row), against one column criteria (the year).

This wouldn't be a problem if the data was arranged in the usual fashion where every criteria including the year is it's own column.

As I'm dealing with a large data set the above arrange doesn't work for me as it results in too many rows.

I've attached a worksheet containing two sheets. What I'd like to do is match the criteria in column A, B, C, D for each year listed in columns E to M using the data arrangement on sheet 2.

Not sure if this is possible but I'm hoping someone has seen this before.

good luck figuring out if the answers are right or wrong:

CSE, aka Array aka { }, formulae are confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER.
Replace commas ( , ) with semicolons ( ; ) in formulae, if your locale setting demands.
All good ideas are courtesy resources from this forum as well as others around the web.

Hi icestationzbra thank you very much, that answer are correct in this example but on a larger scale your right it will be a challenge.

    Thanks again!
