Conditional Formatting - Replace date with "YES" or "NO"

Im hoping this is a simple one.

Can you conditional format a cell to change the cells appearance to either "yes" or "no" to highlight if a date has passed? And if you can how.

    Thanks

no. I was wondering if there was a way to keep the date in the cell but make it appear to say yes or no. If it isnt possible then I was going to use the same formula, however I want to avoid putting another column into the spreadsheet Im using so this is not the ideal solution.

Sorry, not possible as far as I know, unless a Guru somewhere, can prove me wrong.
