Automate a copy and past betweem multiple slave worbooks andone master workbook

    Hi all,

I have a "Master" workbook and will have many (500+ wokbooks in the end) workbooks emailed to me. The master contails a list of serial numbers, the slave workbooks names match the appropriate serial number. All the files will be stored in the same location.
I want to be able to automate a copy past from the slave workboos to the master by using the serial number in the master to look for the slave file, is this possible or is there a better way this could be done. Any help would be great as I am now going around in circles trying to figure this out.

    Thanks

Yeah it can be done. But you will need to give some more details -

If you ran the macro today and you want to run the macro again tomorrow, should yesterday's data be cleared and fresh data put in for today?

Maybe attach a sample of your master and the slave workbook.

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

Re: Automate a copy and past betweem multiple slave worbooks andone master workbook

Sorry, should have put more detail in the first place.

Ok, I am using office 2007 and I have a Master Workbook (MasterBook) with one sheet on it called MasterSheet. It has a list of applications and their associated serial numbers for tracking purposes. I have to collate information received from the application custodians into the MasterSheet. I will receive one WorkBook/WorkSheet (SerialNumber/Review - Assessment Form) per application (at the moment 229 and counting)from the custodians.

The review Workbook is autmaticaly named as the serial number as this is unique, the worksheet name is always the same (Review - Assessment Form). All the workbooks including the MasterBook will be stored in the same location (or at least until the data is copied over we may then remove the review forms).

All the cells coloured green, tan, purple and yellow need to be copied and pasted into the MasterBook/MasterSheet (it is basically a Transpose of the Assessment form). I am still to receive many forms so I want to be able to include the search crietria to the serial number list and those that have not been done without producing any errors.

I need to run the macro several times a day, no information should be overwritten (as each line in the MasterBook is unique and alligns with its own review form), however it can be overwritten if a custodian sends me an updated sheet).

I am unable to attach examples due to corporate restrictions am I able to email them through?

    Thanks for the assistance.

Sorry, further to my request, would it be easier to push the copy from the review form to the master as I receive them or would it be better to pull the info from the review to Master?
