    How to graph the number of recurring data points?

    I am new to this forum and appreciate your help in this matter. My issue is detailed below.



    I'm working with thousands of pieces of data that show duplication in the data in a column(see example below). I need to create a graph that shows the year in the x-axis (2000-2004 in this example). I am then attempting to get the Y axis to count the number of times that value is repeated. Though I could sort and count all of these and make a different table, I am working with the dates 1949-2011 occurring 23,000 times and trying to look for trends in the amount of time any given year is listed. It is always hard to articulate these issues, I hope this makes sense. Thank you for your time, you are saving my sanity.

    Why not create a pivot chart?
