    how to replace * sign from the Cell ?

    hy to all experts,

    i am wondering the way of replacing the * sign from the cell.

    i have imported some data from primavera to excel
    and each dates contain * sign what i wanna replace. example (06-Nov-12*)

    but while replaceing through Find and Replace Tool in excel

    Find what = *
    Replce With = (None (i left it empty)

    but after running thise paremteres my cells are showing empty.

    hi VICTOR5, Excel treats "*" as a wildcard. so you are replacing everything. this link will help you. you can simply add a tilde sign

    Hi Victor,

    You may try with same Find and Replace option like this below.

    Find what = 2*
    Replace with = 2 (If all your dates are in 2012!)


    Click on the *, if you found my reply made solution

    please check the cell contain * signs that is unable to replace.

    yes my all dates have 2012
    & i am using ur paremeteres to solve the mystry bt somewhere is showing 00 inspite of 2012.
    for information u can chek exmaple sheet for reference.....

    In post 3 you get the answer how to achieve this.

    use find and replace (CTRL + H) and use ~* to find

    replace (leave blanc).

    The tilde (~) is on my computer on the left side of the 1.

    @ Victor,

    I have gone thru ur file and understand that your date are stored in long format as dd/mm/yyyy,
    so you may try using as below

    Find what : -12*
    Replace with : 2012

    I have tried on your sample file and I got the problem solved. Hope this will work.
