Unhappy Locking cells and password protecting sheet

    Hi All

Is it possible to lock certain cells in a sheet with one password so only I have access to those cells but then, protect the same sheet with a different password so that only one other specific person can access the sheet?

Basically, I am putting together a Budget file. There will be a sheet per team. I'd like the password protect the individual sheets so that only members of the right team can access their own Budget. But, in addition to this, there are some cells on all sheets that I want to protect so that only I can edit them - does that make sense??

    Many Thanks

Click on the Review tab on the Ribbon and select "Allow Users to Edit Ranges".

I can't give you lots of detail as it's not a feature I've used more than once or twice, and that was with Excel 2003.

But, with a little research, this will probably give you what you want.

You can protect the specific cells by right clicking, click FormatCells, go to the protection tab and click "LOCK"...
Then right click on the sheet tab, and click ptrotect sheet.
To protect the workbook (with a different password, click File, Info, protect document, and encrypt with password.

Alternatively you can restrict access to the spreadsheet by setting a password to open it via 'Save As' --> 'Tools' --> 'General Options'

I like TMShucks' suggestion though, i'll definitely be reading up on that.
