Field not showing true value.

Hi all.

I am using Excel 10 and I am completely new to this version. I have to change some info on our ebay site and it has to be done via File Exchange with CSV files. We were sent a CSV template which only requires 4 pieces of information, one of which is a product id. However, whether we use the template OR a brand new file, when we key in the number for the prod id, then save the file and upload it comes back declined with the error message that the id is not correct. On further checking, if we key in say 390000000000 the field shows 3.9E+11. It seems impossible, template or new, to get the numbers field to show as numbers as input. When you click on the 3.9E field though it shows the correct value in the formula bar.

This is effectively making Excel useless. Can anyone help?

Make sure the cells with your Product ID have the Number format instead of the General format that is the default.

Place a single quote (apostrophe) before the number:

'390000000000

This make the value a Text field rather than a number
