Formula to calculate the numbers of days left for approval

Formula Help Required (possible Networkdays)

Hi can any please advise me what formula I would use (possible Networkdays in Excel 2007) and how I would use it to calculate the following :-


A request is submitted on day ‘x’ and the company then has two days AFTER day ‘x’ to approve (Minus any Week Ends or Bank Holidays) so what I would like is a formula to calculate the numbers of days left the company has to approve or indeed any days over it has failed to approve in time

e.g. 1 if a request was submitted on 23-11-2012 then the company would have to approve by 28-11-2012 so as of today 23-11-2012 they have 3 workings days to approve

e.g. 2 if a request was submitted on 22-11-2012 then the company would have to approve by 27-11-2012 so as of today 23-11-2012 they have 2 workings days to approve

e.g. 3 if a request was submitted on 21-11-2012 then the company would have to approve by 26-11-2012 so as of today 23-11-2012 they have 1 workings day to approve

e.g. 4 if a request was submitted on 20-11-2012 then the company would have to approve by 23-11-2012 so as of today 23-11-2012 they have 0 workings day to approve

e.g. 4 if a request was submitted on 19-11-2012 then the company would have to approve by 22-11-2012 so as of today 23-11-2012 they have -1 workings day to approve

e.g. 5 if a request was submitted on 16-11-2012 then the company would have to approve by 21-11-2012 so as of today 23-11-2012 they have -2 workings day to approve

In addition to taking into account weekends is it also possible to include Bank Holidays ??

Have a look at the WORKDAY function. You can include Holidays in the function
