Need to highlight a row that is duplicated

Hi all need help setting a rule and have no idea how to do it but know that it is achievable.

I get sent a spreadsheet daily and it consists of names and address of customers that i visit.

What I do is copy and paste the spreadsheet i recieve daily into a main spreadsheet with previous entries.

It looks a little like this:

AM MISS Jennie newton #07949087357 12 Mountwood
AM MRS Shaheen Zaman Khan #02036241594 121 Manor Road North
AM MISS Zakiyya Devaney #02083914847 29 Thrigby Road
I need it to recognise if i have been the before and highlight the row in a colour automatically when i copy and paste each days work in.
    thanks russell

Hard to determine from your data displayed if all information is in one cell or spread across several columns. Are you looking for duplicate names? or must the row be duplicated in its entirety if data is spread across several columns? Also, is there a concern or issue about Capitalization? A little more detail please. Would also be helpful if you posted a spreadsheet wish a bit of sample data.

Well, if your data starts in row 1, and the numbers (#07949087357) are in column D, then highlight all of the cells across the rows with data and down to the bottom of your list and apply this formula for conditional formatting:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

I went with basing the CF off of the #'s because there may be duplicates in other fields.

Will that highlight the whole row ? as there is data in that row that matches a previous row.

It will highlight any row where there is a duplicate #xxxxxxxxxxx. Provided you assigned the formula to the correct column (the column that the #'s are stored in).

Hi marvin in a way yes but this is cell specific I need it to look from top of a selected colum say F and see if any data from top to bottom duplicates. What you sent me will show a duplicate but you have to pick a cell first then it will look through to see if any of the other cells in that coloum match. do you have any other thoughts please. thanks

    russellhiedi:

My conditional formatting formula is exactly the one that is used on that linked page. If you need to look in column F instead of column D, then highlight the array of cells, open the Conditional Format dialog, and change the formula to this:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
