Red face Help merging similar rows into columns

    Hi

I have a worksheet of about 27000 property owner addresses that I need to correct in a database. Unfortunately when data capture was set up it did not account for multiple property owners and multiple property owners are listed in rows rather than columns which will cause duplicates of properties when I try to upload it. Basically I want to move multiple owners of a common property from a row into a column.

    Please see the attached example.

    I see that the formula needs to achieve something like;

If text in column B and D is the same for any row then consolidate the text into one row and move the text in that is spread over multiple rows in columns F, G, H, I and J to new columns in the same row as the consolidated B and D text.

Any help would be much appreciated
    All names are fictitious.
    thanks

Your data in Sheet1 is the output right? Can you upload a sheet with how the raw data looks like?

    Hi Arlette,

    Thanks for your comment.

This is actually the raw data,I have been provided it from an old database. Once its formatted I will need to copy and paste into. A new template for upload.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks

Please upload a sample file showing how you want the output to appear.

Re: Help merging similar rows into columns

    Hi Arlette,

Please find attached a example of what I have to get the data to look like.

    1. Created a new column K named nam1_fam
    2. Moved text Ceravolo that is the family name of the second owner into K3
    3. Created a new column L named nam1_gv1
    4. Moved text Vincenzo that is the given name of the second owner into L3
    5. Created a new column M named nam1_gv2
    6. If this person had a second given name that text must move to M3
    7. Now that the required information has been extracted I delete row 4 altogether. Now all information regarding a unique address is on one row.
    8. I repeated the same process for 40 Word Avenue, PARKVIEW

This how I need the final data to look.

    Please Note
    • Sometimes there may be five owners to a property so it would be good if up to nam4_fam could be created.
    • Disregard what I mentioned in my original post about moving text in columns I and J as it is not necessary.
    • Thanks
