    Stop highlighting copy and saving

    Hi guys,

Hope you are all well, I have a question for you and I hope I am not being a dumbass

I have an excel worksheet which I would like to email to people however I want them to be able to view it i.e. so they can see the content of the worksheet but I do not want them to be able to copy and paste, save the file etc. etc. basically all I would like them to do is view it, if they want to copy and paste or actually save it to their computer they must enter a password.

    Is this at all possible.

    Thanks

    Mick

For EACH worksheet you want protected do this:

    1. Go to the Review tab > Protect Sheet
    2. Make sure there is a check next to "Protect worksheet and contents of locked cells'
    3. Remove any check marks in the 'Allow all users of this worksheet to:' section so they are all blank
    4. Enter a password, click OK, re-enter the password, click OK
    5. Save your workbook

    * They won't be able to select anything or change anything. But they would still be able to save it though. You could use VBA to prevent that if you wanted to.

    Wow Moo The Dog

That's pretty much what I wanted, would they we able to use the file in any way without the password ie upload the worksheet into an email sender or print the data in the worksheet to mail merge etc etc.

Also what is a VBA and is it easy to do and if so how

    Thanks

    Mick

VBA is the programming language used in Excel to handle things that built-in functions can't do. One of them would be to prevent saving the document, or requiring a password to do those things. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about VBA to offer guidance in that area. Perhaps someone else on the forum will be able to help with that aspect.
