how to copy a link chart from Powerpoint back to Excel?

    Hi everyone,

I'm working on one project where I need to get the data from the charts in Powerpoint slides, these charts were originally pasted to powerpoint from excel as links by other people, so when I point the mouse at the data points in the curves, it shows the data value but when I tried to edit it, it says the original linked excel file is not available, and when I copy and paste the chart back to excel, all I have is an empty chart, the curve is gone.

So is there an easy way to retrieve the data value of each data point in the curves from either powerpoint or excel? or is it possible to copy the chart back to excel and still keep the curves?

thank you for viewing and any input is greatly appreciated!
